We’re buzzing with excitement — School Yard Kitchen has just won a Tradestand Award at the 2025 Royal Highland Show!
This honour recognises much more than just a well-dressed stall. Judged on criteria like public engagement, innovation, educational impact, product quality, and overall appearance, the award celebrates those who bring more than just goods to the showground — it’s about the ideas, the effort, and the energy behind them.
For us, that means showcasing a different way of doing things.
Yes, we brought bold, addictive flavours — including our dark chocolate pretzels with a kick of chilli, and sauces using Ghana-grown chillies that stop you in your tracks — but we also brought the why behind it all.
At the heart of School Yard Kitchen is a simple idea: food can be a force for change. By sourcing ingredients directly from Ghana, highlighting provenance, and putting child labour issues on the table (literally), we’re showing that everyday treats can have extraordinary impact.
What does this award mean to us?
We're not chasing medals or prestige. But this moment shines a light on the work, care, and collaboration it takes to bring something meaningful to the public — and we’re proud to be part of that story.
We’re grateful to the judging panel, the organisers at the Royal Highland Show, and — most importantly — everyone who came by to talk, taste, ask questions, and support.
This isn’t just a win for us — it’s a step forward for doing things differently.
Here’s to flavour with purpose.
Here’s to the next chapter.
